General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It would be necessary to read the full radiology report to be sure. the tender mass sounds like an abscess or a lymph node that is responding to an infection or inflammation. the thyroid nodule could be a chance finding, but I think you will have to undergo blood tests, iodine scintigraphy and possibly ultrasound of your neck. Let me know if you have other questions.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
