What Does A Painful Hole At The Back Of The Mouth Indicate?
Hi, i have an extremely painful hole at the back of my mouth (after the last tooth) i had the tooth removed thinking the pain will end .. Its been a week and the pain keeps getting worse. I gargle with warm water and salt, this seems to help for a few minutes then the pain starts again . I can not eat nor drink , swallowing is a problem it hurts . i have pain killers which don't do much to ease the pain . What can i do, in extreme pain.
As per your complain a painful hole at the back of mouth behind the last tooth is commonly related to unerupted wisdom tooth that has not broken through the gum but has not erupted in the mouth leading to a hole and also infection and inflammation in the area can cause severe pain..
In case if after tooth removal also the pain has not subsided, it can be due to unhealed extraction socket leading to Dry Socket.. You should consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and get an x ray of the area done, so that the cause is ruled out and will be treated accordingly..
As of ow if pain is severe you can take higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac.. Apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the area.. Do cool compresses over the cheek.. Avoid food accumulation in the hole.. Avoid chewing hard foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
