What Does A Painful Lump Above Breast Indicate?

Hello, I am a 43 year young woman. I have a hard lump on my left side above the breast but below the clavicle. I ve had the lump for a few years and it was only painful on occasion Now it has grown and become extremely painful and has gotten larger and seems to now be on the clavicle as well. I m now experiencing pain when I cough and my neck is now hurting as well. I hve an appt with a surgical oncologist who now wants to reexamine the area. What could this be, it has definitely changed in size and pain level. Is this possibly cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having Lipoma or sebaceous cyst giving this problem.
There is another possibility of having enlarged infra clavicular lymph nodes.
In such case you might require complete physical manual examination of your breasts and Mammography.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
Ok and take care.
