What Does A Painful Lump In Armpit Indicate?

Hi, i have a very painful lump in my arm pit that hurts very bad. It is about the size of a quarter and a half. It s very painful to lift my arm or reach for things. i also had random back aches for the past few days that come and go. a few years ago i started noticing lumps under my arms but i hadnt had one in a while and nothing that felt like this. I dont use deodorant because i didnt know if that was the cause but aparently it isnt. Also i am not sick right now but i may be getting some kind of sinus infection (I m use to them, so i believe im getting one). please shine some light on this situation for me. i Googled and nothing is straight forward just a bunch of stuff that scares me.

Hi.

First of all, I did not understand how long this lump in your axillary region has lasted or whether it comes and goes. If the lumps is shortlived and settles on its own it could simply be folliculitis which is the inflammation and/or infection of the hair follicle that results in the lump described. Simple heat apllication suffices in majority of cases, but if it is badly infected that at times a small surgical procedure called an incision and drainage is required.

But if the lump has stayed on for a long time then it could be a cyst or even a fibroadenoma (although not common in the axillary region, it can still occur). If you can then please write to me using our premium service through which I can at least visually examine the region. Otherwise report to a doctor who may choose to conduct an ultrasound as well.

Best wishes.
