What Does A Painful Lump In The Vagina And Painful Intercourse Indicate?

Hi, I am a 61 year old female. I have bad pain with sex only when vibrator/penis enters. Dryness is not a problem. Had a few drops of bright red, watery blood. Feels like tissue with soft, pea-sized lump at top of the vaginal wall that may drop into vaginal area but not outside. It can be pushed up. Seems to be below cervix. No problems with urination or with bladder discomfort. No STDs at last check up, no sex since. What would you think it is? Is this something that can wait a few months before seeing a doctor? Am starting a new job Monday and don t want to take time off. Thank you for your assistance.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would not recommend that you wait for a few months before looking into this as it is probably a vaginal polyps which needs to removed and analyzed to exclude malignant potential.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
