What Does A Painful Lump On The Buttocks Indicate?
I have a painful lump on the inside of my left butt cheek. It is not open in any kind of way but i can feel it. I can t sit down without feeling discomfort and when trying to sleep I have to lay on my side. I m starting to feel pain through my spine as well. what could this be??
Staphylococcus infection is the most common cause of boils in the buttocks. If you are diabetic, keep the blood sugar levels under control. When the infection connects numerous boils it forms a carbuncle. A carbuncle can affect the spinal nerve & cause discomfort & pain.
Get physically checked, You may need incision & drainage. Take antibiotics & apply antibacterial ointments topically. For pain take Ibuprofen, Naproxen or combiflam. Use hand sanitizers & wash your clothes in savlon or dettol.
Do go for follow up treatment to avoid complications like cellulitis, sepsis, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
