What Does A Painful Lump On The Head After An Injury Indicate?

Hi I fell three weeks ago when I was on a boat. I fell backward and the next I knew paramedics were standing over me. The next day I went to the E.R and they did a C.T scan and said I had a Significant Contusion and a Concussion. However now three weeks later I still have a lump on my head and it and the surrounding area is very sore? Not sure if this is normal?

Hello.
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

You arr probably having a hematoma over your back. It is nothing but a collection of blood that develop after a blunt trauma. you don't need to worry regarding this as it is a harmless condition and it will subside by it own with conservative measures.
You can try the following as a first line measures:-
(1)- Simple analgesics like aceclofenac or ibuprofen for pain.
(2)- Apply ice packs frequently over the affected area.
Generally the swelling subside with in few weeks with these measures, if it persist for more you might require a repeat CT

Wishing you good health.
Regards.
