I have a hard painful lump in front of my ear, right on my jaw bone. It s gotten to the point to where I can t even sleep on this ear. Even when I don t touch it, I am still in constant pain. I have had it for about a week now, and it dosenr show any sign of going away. What do I do?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It is appearing like an infected parotid group of lymph node due to infection in the adjacent areas like ear, parotid gland, teeth etc..
Infection needs to be treated and there are very less chances that it will go away on its own..
You should consult a Physician or an Emergency room and get a clinical examination done..
You will be advised to take antibiotics like Augmentin [amoxicillin + clavulanate potassium] and anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil or Aleve, do cool compresses over the swelling..
Take for atleast 1 week and if the symptoms does not improve still then an ultrasound and biopsy can be advised..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
