What Does A Painful Lump On The Shin Indicate?

my 55 year old boyfriend, woke up in excruciating pain and a sometimes hard, at other times squishy knot on his left shin, front. We have been treating it with 800 mg Ibuprofen, rest, and keeping his left leg elevated, alternating, warm wet washcloths with epsom salt, and ice, all day. We are concerned as it appears to have moved up his leg , between his artificial hip, and femur, about 4 inches above his knee.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello dear , Hi

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* This seems more of inflammatory lesion with extending cellulitis most
probably .

* If obviously visible outside , recommended to upload a photo pic as an
attachment to better understand and precisely evaluate the issue for
final line of management , as per my knowledge this does not
sound to be resolved by home remedies only .

Hope this will help you .
Welcome for further guidance .

Regards dear .
