What Does A Painful Spot On The Head Indicate?

May 30 I noticed a very sore spot on my head, above the ear, with pain radiating down into my jaw. That afternoon I began feeling flu-like symptoms that got slightly better by the third day, but hasn t improved since. My eyes feel like they are swollen and full of pressure to the degree that it s affected my vision. My lips feel raw. My lungs feel like I can t take a full breath. Alternately I m hot, or chilled. Despite Neosporin, the sore (about a quarter-size) hasn t gone down, and the area surrounding it (about 2-3 inches in diameter) is swollen and very tender. I think I ve been poisoned by a bug, as I ve been out in the woods for the last month nearly all-day, every day. t

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be an abscess or local infection at the site of insect bite. As per your description it seems like infected.

It is better to start on a short course of antibiotics preferably Moxclav.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
