What Does A Painful While Spot On The Tongue Indicate?
Hi I have a white painful spot on the side of my tongue and my veins underneath are swollen and I have a sore throat. Do you know what this could be ? I've been gargling salt water for days to soothe the sore throat and the white painful spot comes and goes
As per your query you have symptoms of painful white spot on the tongue which seems to be due to transient Lingual Papillitis which occur due to various reasons like stress , hormonal changes or acidic and spicy food and it could be due to sore throat and inflammation of tonsils.
- For pain and if you also have fever Tylenol can be taken.
- Maintain good oral hygiene and drink plenty of water.
If condition doesn't get better in few days then consult oral pathologist for proper checkup and rule out condition like herpes or canker sore. Doctor may prescribe proper course of antibiotics/antiviral medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
