Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 66 and last week a pimple that felt like a boil popped up on my nipple. For almost a week, it hurt. I kept Neosporin and a bandage on it. Last night when I removed the bandage, there was white pus-like substance on the side. I squeezed a bit and it popped. It feels much better. I ve always had a white-head looking spot on this nipple, which I never bothered with. Should I be concerned?
Hello, Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern
Your symptoms are suggestive of infected boil..Since the boil has already bursted and pus has drained you can apply mupirocin ointment and apply gauze bandage.Change the dressing every 12 hours. You can use Tylenol for pain. Also make sure to keep the area clean and dry. If you notice worsening pain, spreading of skin redness, fever, enlarged lymph nodes or if you are diabetic please follow up with your doctor.Oral clindamycin needs to be initiated in such cases.
Hope this answers your questions Please address further questions here Regards Dr.Lekshmi
