I have a polyp or skin tag on my anus. It does not hurt but is annoying trying to kerp clean..I have had a lre cancerous polyp removed in 2009. Colin cancer runs in my family. My grandfather died of it. I have an apointment to have it checked but I am concerned

Yes, polyps are benign tumors which are commonly located in anus and rectum. It may cause some discomfort, bleeding or pain. But also it may become cancerous in some rare cases.
These are actually protrusions in rectal wall and there are several stages of the disease. Initially it can be treated with dietary changes by having high fibre diet with lot of fluids and make your stool soft.But it s recommended to have it surgically removed which is a simple procedure especially since there was colon cancer in your family.
