What Does A Positive ANA For Lupus Mean?

What does a positive ANA for lupus mean? My blood test showed a speckled pattern, so my rheumatologist says I don t have lupus. Is he right? I have fibromyalgia, and have been feeling so much worse for the last couple of months. I m considering seeing an infectious disease doctor to rule out any other issues.

Hello,

I think a positive ANA test means that you are positive for lupus. I don't know who he is saying you don't have it. Possibly you have not many signs and it may be in remission. Also, get tested for rheumatoid arthritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
