What Does A Protruding Bone On The Knee After A Surgery Indicate?

I had Orthoscoptic surgery, 11 weeks ago, on my exterior tibia plateau to repair 2 triangular fragments, broken off by ski hitting my left leg. Also required incision to put a titanium/stainless steel plate with several screws to the tibia. Now there is a small pointed piece to left of knee... is this supposed to be there? Or was something left on there by mistake, from the scope?
