What Does A Purple Colored Lump After Navel Piercing Suggest?

I got a navel piercing in January, it's now got like a purple coloured lump at the entry of the piercing that when pressed puss comes out, it's doesn't hurt bad and there's no swelling just that small lump, is there anyway of getting rid of the infection without use of antibiotics?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a lump at the site of piercing with pus discharge are clear signs of infection leading to formation of abscess and the purple colour indicates that there has been broken blood vessels leading to spillage of blood leading to a purple coloured lump..

In case there is pus formation the antibiotics like amoxicillin or clindamycin are needed to reduce the infection and initiate faster healing as the antibiotics kills the harmful bacteria causing infection..

Along with oral intake of antibiotics application of antiseptic cream like soframycin or neosporin can help in healing faster..

Along with it you should not remove the stud which you are wearing until you get healed as it will otherwise lead to continuous trauma..
