Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently found a collection of old, (purple) blood behind my knee. It was the size of a raisin. I thought it might be an ingrown hair, so I scratched it, and it began to bleed. And bleed. It finally bled out , down to the size of a pencil point. There seemed to be a capsule under the skin, which held the blood. What was it?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The purple lump behind the knee indicate hematoma, hemangioma or other lesion involving micro vessels of subcutaneous space. I recommend to undertake a Doppler ultrasound report for its best evaluation.
