What Does A Questionable Mass On The Left Ovary Indicate?

Hi. Yes, I am in question to the next procedure needed about a questionable mass on my left ovary. An ultrasound was done and a MRI, along with blood tests to determine if it is cancerous or not. While none of those tests were able to tell if the ovary was cancerous or not. I m asking what will be next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Imaging studies will only tell the presence and extent of lesion or mass present. Most of the times, it may not be able to differentiate and conclude whether it is cancerous or not.

To know more about it, you would require ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) or biopsy of the lesion. Based on the histopathology report, diagnosis can be made.

Kindly consult a gynecologist in this regard for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
