What Does A Rash Between The Abdomen And Back Indicate?

I have a localized rash on the right side between stomach and back. Started a couple of days ago but only a few acne like bumps. I take metformin, allopurinol and gemfibrozil. I am a 61 year old male. It itched a little for about two days but right now it really doesn t itch. Probably about a 3 inch long area and 2 inches wide and red like acne.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* If the rash is recent appearance after any drug alteration or new drug, then drug induced side effect can be a consideration.
* If that is not the case any viral or bacterial infection can be a culprit for the same, which should be managed symptomatically.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
