Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, my 9 yr old daughter developed a pimple like rash on her chest 4 days ago. They are isolated bumps like acne (not in any pattern). I see them now on her shoulders, one cheek, and stomach as well as thigh. She does not have a fever but is complaining of mild sore throat and dry cough. The pimplelike spots are not oozing and are not itchy. I thought it was heat rash...but it seems like she has a few more than she did 2 days ago. She feels fine.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I understand your concern. The rash on trunk abdomen start with spreading to the face, hand. Along with cough and cold is likely to be viral in origin(most probably chicken pox). Let her Take Rest. Have light nutritive food, symptomatic treatment for sore throat and cold (over the counter)Avoid her from exposure to bacterial infection. The red would slowly progress to fluid filled form(do not pierce it) and dry eventually over 8-10 days and scab off. Post rash days are more prone to get respiratory infection. Prevent it or take doctor's help in case of need.
Avoid contact with children(not yet exposed to the infection)to avoid spread of the infection.

Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale,
