Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash on my left index finger and right thumb. I thought (at first) it was due to the cold weather. this started last January. I handle a lot of paper at work. So I covered it bandaids and Neosporin. That seemed to help over the weekend. Come Monday morning they would crack open again. Fast forward. I ran out of bandaids and had some cheaper latex free bandaids. And lo and behold that did the trick. But now they are still cracking open and very sore. What else is there?
As per your query you have symptoms of rash on the index finger which is due to the fact as dirt and moisture get trapped.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you keep this area clean and dry and you should apply a cream containing azelaic acid. You should avoid touching or pricking rashes. If the condition doesn't get better then consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for a lab test. The doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants, antibiotics like clindamycin along with anti-inflammatory medications. Apply an ice pack on rashes 2-3 times a day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
