Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Red And Swollen Area On The Lower Spine Indicate?
I just noticed a 1 1/2 inch red, swollen area on the skin above spinal column, lower back of my 15 year old son. He says it is tender to the touch but is not uncomfortable. He can move normally and otherwise seems fine. He has been on amoxicillin for one week due to sinus infection/bronchitis. Injured tail bone about one week ago.
It can be a local inflammatory reaction, developed due to minor trauma. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
