What Does A Red Rash On The Tongue Indicate?

I have a round discolored redish, but darker place on my tongue. It does not hurt, but the sensation from the site is different than the rest of my tongue. It looks similar to a small burn, but I have not burned my tongue. Any thing I should watch for?

Thanks for the query..

A red discoloured area over the tongue that is sore as compared to rest of the tongue is appearing due to inflammation only and it looks like it has happened some time back and you noticed it today only..

You should start doing warm saline gargles and apply ice over the area.
Take Vitamin B complex supplements and take Ibuprofen for reducing inflammation..

If the area does not get better then you should get a clinical examination done by an Oral Physician so that exact cause can be ruled out.
A biopsy can be done if needed..
