What Does A Small Bump In Pubic Area Indicate?

A few months ago I felt a small bump under my panty line. It was around late July/early August. I went to my regular doctor and told her about it and she said since I had gotten a mosquito bite there that it may be because of that. She told me to watch it for 4-6 weeks to see if it changes or goes away. Well I ve gotten about it until tonight and of course I immediately googled ovarian cancer. I m extremely worried now and I was wondering if a PAP smear test would detect anything.

General Surgeon 's  Response
hi.

based from your description, yes, it could be folliculitis. this usually occurs after shaving or when a hair is accidentally pulled out and it gets infected. it could also be a cyst, or an inflammatory reaction which is starting to form an abscess. a consult with your gynecologist is best for clinical evaluation. medical and/or surgical management will be directed accordingly.

hope this helps.

good day!!
