What Does A Sore, Purple Lump On Inner Thigh Indicate, Also A Dark Line Runs Through It?

I have a large lump on my inner thigh that is quite sore, it is purple in colour, I have lanced it and drained the puss from but it seems to be the same size. There also looks to be a darkish line running through it. Would this indicate an infected ingrown hair?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

It seems to be a bacterial infection which might have extended deep. In such a case it is always advisable to take an oral antibacterial (penicillin group or cephalosporin group) for a week so as to reach the depth of infection.

A topical antibacterial like 2% mupirocin twice daily would help to resolve it faster.

take care
regards
