What Does A Sudden Increase In Heart Rate Indicate?

my heart rate spikes up to 140 bpm and ive been to the doctors but they sent a refferal to a cardiologist. its taking forever. is this bad that im waiting for someone to check on my heart? what are the conseqences of waiting so long. (its taking long because im on a list living in a small town)

I really appreciate your concern, if this is really tachycardia then it need to needs EKG to know the underlying cause, without this nothing can be said but it may be sinus one means this is nothing to worry, hope this helps, and have a nice day.
