What Does A Sudden Memory Loss Episode In An Adult Indicate?
3 1/2 weeks ago my husband woke up with complete memory loss. He did not know who hd was, who I was, who any of his family were, where he was from, etc. He does not know animals, foods, marriage, most things! He can read but does not comprehend what he has read. He does have numbness in his feet and hands but his speech is fine. He has been under a lot of stress and not sleeping well and some days he is very dizzy which causes him to pass out for 5-15 minutes. He has terrible headaches which get worse the more he tries to think of remember.
Please help with any direction to head. Thank you!!
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Sudden onset memory loss in a healthy male could occur due to a number of reasons. First reason that should be ruled out is any organic cause. But in most of the cases the memory loss occurs gradually rather than suddenly. Still he should undergo proper neurological evaluation. MRI will help to rule out any organic lesion. Dissociative disorders in psychiatry also cause similar symptoms. Please visit a psychiatrist for his evaluation.
Thanks, Take care
