Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - I am a 45yo female - I have had a swollen left lingual tonsil, including base of tongue for about 9 months now - verified by 2 CT scans, 7 months apart... after the first scan, an ENT said to have a biopsy done but the radiologist recommended against it, stating that the size was not big enough... so the ENT said to come back in a year.... I just had the 2nd scan done in February and am going back to the same ENT on Monday and just want to know what I should be asking him, or requesting that he do, etc.... I just want some answers. (I have also had swelling of lymph nodes in the neck at the same time) - no decrease in size with antibiotics at all...

What Does A Swollen Left Lingual Tonsil Indicate?
Hello, If the size is increasing, it is better to do a biopsy. Lingual tonsil of nine months duration is quite abnormal and biopsy will be a better choice. You can proceed with your ENT specialist’s opinion. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
