What Does A Swollen Lymph Node In The Groin Area Indicate?

I saw a doc today for a swollen lymph node in my groin. It was noticed a couple of months ago, in an MRI for a GI problem. At the time they thought it was the result of an infection I had had. It is 2-3 cm long and only on the left. I m seeing a surgeon to arrange a biopsy, The doc I saw today said it also looked like a hernia. Any thoughts? email YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

it is more likely to be lymph node since hernia would be moveable and have some other signs. If there is pain or growth of this node then biopsy should be done to rule out some serious diseases.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
