What Does A Swollen Lymph Node On The Neck Indicate?

Hello, I’ve had what I assume to be a swollen lymph node on the back of my neck for over a year. When it first occurred it was somewhat sizeable but shrank to about pea size or less and stabilized there for over a year. Recently it’s flared up again and has gotten bigger. Is that something to worry about.

Hello,

Possible causes for lymph node enlargement in the neck is
1.Scalp infection like carbuncle or folliculitis or books
2. An infection like tuberculosis or tonsillitis or pharyngitis or stye or chalazion etcetera.
3. Lymphomas or malignancy
4. Kikuchi disease or lymphomas glandular fever.

You have to take a course of antibiotic depending upon the infection, If symptoms not improved, need a biopsy of lymph node please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
