What Does A Tender Spot On Labia Majora Indicate?

Hi Dr Rynne, I had a quick question. Two days go i noticed a small, tender ulceration on one side of my labia majora and the next day it spread to the other side, mirror image. I also have tender bilateral inguinal lymph nodes. Went to the doctor today and she clinically diagnosed me with herpes. What would be some other possible diagnoses? She prescribed acyclovir, told me to hold of with PCR and return to get a blood test for IgM in a month.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com!

I really appreciate your concern. From your symptoms I could reach to the following differential diagnosis:
Herpes Zoster, Chancroid, Syphilis, Candiasis. Most probable diagnosis is genital herpes infection. So I advice you complete the course of Acyclovir.
You'll be fine.

Hope I have solved your query. Take Care.

Thank you.

Regards,
Dr. Manan
