What Does A Troponin Test Measure?

Hi , good day !! I m 53 years old man, with diabetes diagnosis since seven years ago. Three days ago, I have a chest pain, right arm pain , and pain in muy neck too, in the right side. I went with the cardiologist and he diagnose arritmia and make me the Tropnin I Test. The result of the test was 0.7 ng/ml. It semms I was near of Heart atack. Could you tell me,please, what is the meaning of this level of troponin I test ? I was looking for more information in internet, but the information es confuse. ¿could you answer me? Thanks. Thanks for your question on HCM. .
I can understand your situation and problem.
Troponin T and I are known as cardiac bio markers.
They are secreted from cardiac muscle only.
So their level is highly specific to cardiac disease only.
When blood supply to the heart is reduced (due to coronary blockage), cardiac muscles are dying and secret troponins.
So high levels of troponins indicate heart muscle damage (heart attack).
So your troponin level was on higher side of normal, which suggest less damage to your heart.
I advice you to get done coronary angiography to rule out coronary obstruction.
