went to the dentist today for 6 month cleaning. he noticed a thin white line along the gum line on the outer edge only on both sides of my mouth nothing like this appears in the front or inside my mouth any thoughts on this? in January I had a severe reaction to a medication that left the inside of my mouth looking like I ha thrush, which I did not have, and this lasted about three months the medication I was allergic to was for a fungus infection. any thoughts?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have white line on the gums seems to be due to number of cause such as plaque and tartar deposits on teeth, allergic reaction to medications , poor immunity of body and fungal infection and poor oral hygiene of oral cavity. I would suggest you to maintain oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice a day using a super soft toothbrush and flossing daily. You should do warm saline gargles at least once a day. Use anti-microbial mouthwash such as Listerine to gargle. Drink plenty of water. Visit periodontist once and get it examined and go for cleaning. Eat raw fruits and vegetables as they have cleaning action over teeth. You should massage your gums using finger tips as it improves blood supply. Avoid tobacco chewing and smoke.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
