What Does Abdominal Pain On The Left Side Indicate?
I am a 52 year old woman, and several weeks ago I had some pain in my lower left side. It has since become progressively worse. At first just sometimes when I would go to get up, but now it is every time I stand up. Then after I get up when I move my left leg to take a step it hurts. It is almost like a sore muscle but I think if I pulled something (don t know how I would of though), it would be getting better with time, not worse.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Your classical history is indicative that there is a ilio-psoas muscle inflammation or an abscess or so. You have pain on left lower abdomen that increases even on getting up and movement of the left lower limb. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: CT scan of the abdomen is the best diagnostic tool in such cases. Clinical examination also has a great role but since such problems are rare one can miss it. This will also help to know whether there are other problems like colitis, stone in left ureter. any cancerous growth and so on. Till then take rest. Do not strain anymore to give rest to the ailing area.
