What Does Abdominal Pain On The Right Side Indicate?

Right sided abdominal pain onset about 3 hours ago, increasing at intervals to mild constant pain.Especially with palpating, frequent loose stools over last 48-72 hours. Feeling of fullness and bloating, general malaise No fever. No appendix but still have gallbladder. Could this be gallstones? Should I seek medical assistance?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. since the symptoms are acute thus I do recommend following symptomwise approach:

i. As the pain is on the right side, thus the most common causes are biliary colic [gall stones], hepatitis, cholecystitis, and as the appendix is removed thus acute appendicitis can be excluded, seek immediate medical assistance and ask for ultrasonography of HBR [hepatobiliary region] for Amoebic liver abscess and Cholecystitis. [history of gallstones is there]

PS. other possibilities which can be excluded at the time of examination are an inflammatory bowel disorder.

ii. Although most of the times, pain may be the result of minor injury or postural changes, however sometimes there may be an underlying medical condition/situation which needs appropriate treatment.
