What Does Abdominal Pain On The Right Side Indicate?

Yes I need some help. My daughter who is 24yrs old has had a lot of pain in her right side and it radiates across her stomach at times. About 4 weeks ago she thought she had the regular flu with vomiting and some diarrhea. But she has not been able to keep any food down since then and has lost over 25lbs. she has been to the er twice and both times they have done ct scan with dye. the first time they said her right kidney was swollen a week later it looked normal. at that time they also did an ultra sound on both kidneys, gallbladder, appendix, and ovaries and all looked fine. Endmetriosis had been ruled out. Her primary said she has IC/IBS. But she is still in pain and now she says that she has blood in her urine also sometimes when she has to go nothing comes out. She can only eat white rice and saline crackers those are the only things she can keep down. can you please help us out. Could she have microscopic kidney stones that are not being detected?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [Urologist] and do few pathological investigations like [CBC with differential and Urine RE/ME/Culture].

2) Do take antibiotics as per culture reports and as you have done an ultrasound and no stone detected so we cannot say it as stone in kidney.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this:

1) Try to drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Drinking fluids can help remove bacteria from your body when you urinate.

2) Urinate frequently. Avoid delaying urination when you feel the urge to urinate.

3) Empty the bladder after intercourse. Urinating as soon as possible after intercourse helps clear bacteria from the urethra, reducing your risk of infection.

4) Try to wipe carefully. Wiping from front to back after urinating and after a bowel movement helps prevent bacteria from spreading to the urethra.

5) Try to avoid using feminine products in the genital area. Using feminine products, such as deodorant sprays or douches, in your genital area can irritate your urethra.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
