What Does Absence Of Fishy Smell Post Treatment For Bacterial Vaginosis Mean?
I just Finished pap smear last february and the result was shift in florA Suggestive of bacterial vaginosis.. Then she prescribe me albot suppository..two weeks after the smell was gone.. I m just asking if I m positive in bv? Only a fishy smell and I never itchy. Can I still have normal ph in vagina? Am I still lacking of lactobacilli and and estrogen? Pls help me.
Bacterial vaginosis results from an overgrowth of one of several organisms normally present in your vagina. Usually, good bacteria (lactobacilli) outnumber bad bacteria (anaerobes) in your vagina. But if anaerobic bacteria become too numerous, they upset the natural balance of microorganisms in your vagina, resulting in bacterial vaginosis. If your natural vaginal environment doesn't produce enough of the good lactobacilli bacteria, you're more likely to develop bacterial vaginosis. The normal vaginal PH is 3.8 to 4.5 but in bacteral vaginosis this is greater than 4.5. You do not need to worry now as absence of fishy smell post treatment means that your problem has solved, Yes estrogen is reduced if patient is suffering from Bacterial vaginosis but it gets back to normal again and therefore, you do not need to worry, if you feel any symptoms like vaginal irritation and such smell again, you suppose to seek physician. Please i suggest you for safe sex practice as patient safety is out top priority.
