What Does An Enlarged Parathyroid In Ultrasound With TSH 5.58 Mean ?

Hi

I recently had an ultrasound on my thyroid and the report says the right lobe measures 47x16mm and the left lobe measures 27x13mm. Heterogeneous echoes seen bilaterally. No definite discrete nodule seen. Vascularity appears to be mildly increased.
A well defined nodule is seen inferior lobe of thyroid measuring 7.9 x4.5mm, may represent enlarged parathyroid.

My TSH levels are 5.58
Thyroglobulin antibodies are 243
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are > 1300

Can you please try and explain this so I can understand what it means.

The TSH level certainly is raised and this means that you are having a reduced functioning thyroid particularly since your antibodies are also raised.
I do not see any calcium levels and PTH levels being done.
The next test that I would like to do with an enlarged parathyroid gland is to check the calcium and PTH levels because parathyroid glands regulate calcium levels in our body and the most common cause of raised calcium is in fact a tumour or adenoma in the parathyroid gland which is what should be ruled out by doing PTH and calcium levels.
Kindest Regards
