What Does An Indentation In Left Quadriceps Muscle Indicate?

Suddenly I have a indentation of my left quad muscle. I do have condromalacia in that knee from a dashboard injury 3 yrs. ago. Since I've noticed it, it's been more of a physical appearance. I don't have any pain. Not sure what this is.......maybe you can help
