What Does An Infected White Bump In Nostril Indicate?

Hi, im 19, 5ft 5, 9 st 7 lb, female, recently had conjuncitvitus, but im not sure that that is linked to my query. I had a big white lump inside my left nostril about a month or two ago, and it seemed to disappear after a while, it wasn t painful and I never popped it. It came back recently and this time it was painful and was even bigger, and it made it more difficult to breathe through (however i can t remember if it was the same nostril as before) this time it did pop, releasing blood and some puss like substance, it did not smell and looked healthy if that makes sense! Both lumps or bumps were hard, and didnt feel like a spot. They were both situated nearer the front about 1cm - 1.5 cm inside, and on the base of the nostril. I have been left with what looks like a small hole (from the popped lump) or dent in my nostril from where the bump was. I am interested in finding out what this is because i don t know whether i should be worried or not!

Hello,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, the question is whether the space is too big for antibiotics to get all the germs in it. Even a half an inch is probably too big and the area will have to be opened up.

There might be an area that cannot be entirely cleaned out and a small area may have to be removed (like some infected hair follicles). There can be entire tracts between areas that have to be removed but this is certainly NOT common for this location.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
