What Does An Open Wound And Drainage After Stitches Removal Indicate?

I got my stitches in my wrist removed on Tues after my two week post op visit for CTS surgery. The nurse put sterile strips on since I had a little drainage. I just removed the strips and my wound is totally open. What does this mean. No major obvious signs of infection. Tad bit of drainage. Should I go to the urgent care facility tomorrow?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain if after removal of stitches there has been open wound along with drainage then you need to consult your surgeon and get yourself evaluated..

The wound can get infected and cause complication at the site of surgery..

So my suggestion is to consult your surgeon and in case if needed the surgeon can do antiseptic dressing and also advise you a course of antibiotics for faster healing and preventing infection..

Also keep the area dry and avoid moisture exposure to the wound site..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
