Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Atrial Enlargement And Short PR Interval Mean?
On the Orders paper I got from my recent appointment with my cardiologist I see under Procedures/Diagnostics it reads (Sinus rhythm with short PR interval. Right atrial enlargement.) What is that? And was that what my cardiologist was looking for or is that something I have?? He certainly didn t mention anything about me having a problem there and said my EKG looked good. I m confused, needless to say.
Dear Sir/ Madam Thanks for your query to us. Short PR interval means the time taken by electrical waves to travel from your atria to your ventricle (receiving chamber to pumping chamber) is less than usual. It may be totally benign or may be associated with rhythm disorders of heart. Enlarge atria can be because of many reasons, detailed ECHO will divulge most of them. Be relaxed and wait for your cardiologists opinion unless you have botrhersome symptoms. Sincerely Sukhvinder
