Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 63 years old, type 2 diabetic, with a current a1c of 7.3. I am a smoker and non-drinker.Test results from a recent physical were favorable with the exception of the a1c and a statement referring to a possible left atrial enlargement. What does the atrial enlargement mean?
HI Well come to HCM You really need to control the blood glucose level on tight rule basis because 7.3 test result of HbA1c is not good, atrial enlargement is increase the area of one of heart chamber and this could be age related or could be due to some long standing cardiac condition but this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care.
