What Does Atypical Lymphocytes In The Blood Report Suggest?
I have had 4 blood work tests done recently due to some abnormal results.Blood work 1:WBC: 11.6 Blood work 2: WBC: 12.3 Absolute Neutrophils: 8.3 Blood work 3:WBC: 12.3 Abs. Neutrophils: 7.9 Platelets: 445 Bloodwork 4:WBC: 11.2 Platelets: 418 MCHC: 31.5 Also, a note was included that says "Atypical lymphocytes" although the count was in the normal range (22%, 2.5 absolute)I am a 26 year old female and the initial blood work was ordered three months ago because I am obese and started seeing a nutritionist. He said that because the numbers on this last one are lower than they have been, we will just do one in 3 months to keep an eye on it at this point.Should I be following up with a specialist or a general practitioner since I continue to have abnormal results? Or should I just not worry and do another one in a few months? I have gotten sick more frequently this winter/spring but I attributed it to being a first year teacher in a middle school. No symptoms otherwise.
Hi! welcome to HCM! You dont worry and just do another one in a few months,I have seen your report its nearly normal now..Atypical lymphocytes are reactive lymphocytes which are lymphocytes that become large as a result of antigen stimulation.Reactive lymphocytes are usually associated with viral illnesses, however, they can also be present as a result of drug reactions. Take care!
