What Does Babies Heart Valve Looked Thickened Indicate?

hi my name is kylea i am 27 weeks pregnant and i had a n ultra sound sound done and they said my babies heart vavle looked thickend and i have to go to vancouver right away fo more testing is there a chance everything is fine ? and if not will she look normal or have a normal life ever?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
Normally cardiac valves are very delicate, mobile and pliable.
Thickening indicates poor functioning of valves.
Thickened valves are less mobile and less pliable. So valvular heart disease like stenosis and regurgitation are very common with thickened valves.
So when present, thickened valves does not carry good prognosis. In fetus it is an indication for congenital heart disease (CHD). So better to consult pediatric cardiologist and discuss these things.
