What Does Black Vaginal Spotting During Pregnancy Suggest?

I am 4weeks pregnant, and been getting brown to almost-black spotting for the past 3weeks. It stopped for a while 2days back, but today i realised that i had a maroon discharge on my pantyliner. It looks fresh. I also feel a little bit uncomfortable around my waist to the back. The last time i had an intercourse was 3days back. Please advice me. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems mostly due to implantation bleeding of fertilized egg in uterine lining. It is normal during pregnancy. However, if you noticed more bleeding than cervical polyp, fibroid etc like lesion need to be ruled out. Your pelvic examination need to be done for that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
