What Does Blackish Stains During Vomitting Indicate?

I'm a 19 year old female.I'm 5'7" and about 150lbs. I've been exercising regularly and trying to change my eating habits. Last night I vomited in my mouth. It was a significant amount so I spit it into a tissue. It was black and resembled chewing tobacco. What could this mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there.....

What was the food you ate upto a couple of hours before vomiting? If it was something black in colour for eg..dates etc don't worry about it.

However, if the black vomitus was not related to the food eaten, then there is a possibility of some bleeding in the gut, in which case it would be better if you visited the physician.

Avoid spicy oily foods, alcohol, smoking, carbonated beverages.
Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.
