Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Bleeding After A Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery Indicate?
I had laparoscopic hernia surgery three weeks ago. Occasionally, I get chills, and quite often, I feel drained. The surgeon discharged me indicating that these symptons persist for a few weeks. The Urologist discharged me as well as I needed a catheter for five days. All that has cleared up, except for occasional several drops of blood....however, I needed the catheter after two days, and again for an additional four days.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. No, this is not normal. This is suggestive of infection. Bleeding from urethra after catheter is suggestive of either urinary tract infection or trauma due to catheter. So better to get done Urinary microscopic examination to rule out infection. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. You may need antibiotic like levofloxacin. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
