What Does Bleeding During Bowel Movements Indicate?

Over the past few weeks ive passed blood when doing a bowel movement. Tonight a lot of blood and some clots. I had bloods taken this week for underactive thyroid and was advised to increase my levothyroxine from 75mg to 100mg daily. I generally dont feel well tired and sore but i also suffer from fibromyalgia so have put symptoms down to that. Please can you advise me on what to do. Thank you.

hi sir/mam,bleeding at stools is seen in the following conditions like :
1)anal fissure
2)external haemorrhoids
3)inflammatory bowel disease(chron’s)
4)rectal polyps or tumours
5)malignancy of colon or any part of large bowel.

there may be other reasons but these are the most common ones.in malignancy and any tumours of large bowel, painless bleeding is seen.a specific diagnosis can be made on per rectal examination by an expert and if necessary, a colonoscopy.thyroid medication and bowel bleeding have no relation.hope you understand the importance of consultation and examination by an expert.early diagnosis and prompt treatment are recommended.hope i’m clear.any further doubts are always welcome.i’m always eager to answer and guide you.thank you.wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and peaceful new year 2018.take care.bye.
