What Does Bleeding In The Roof Of The Mouth Indicate?

Hi Doctor,this evening the roof of my mouth was bleeding.As i have a top denture sometimes it hurts when I m eating.I removed the denture as it was hurting and then when cleaning my mouth there was bright red blood on the tissue.I then washed my mouth in hot water and salt which helped and there has not been any blood.Do you think there any cause for me to b concerned? Could it be cancer?
